How To Use a Spreader Bar

What is it?

A spreader bar is a pole, usually made from stainless steel or wood, that separates the legs and locks them in place. Typically, they have O Rings attached at either end, just like the Hardrrr Adjustable one, so you can attach your own bondage equipment to it. Alternatively, they will have ankle cuffs already attached. The idea is to secure the legs of your submissive, and set things nice and wide. To learn how to use a spreader bar, continue reading!

It’s a type of sex toy that can be used during bondage play as a form of restraint. They are so kinky and fun, you’ll want to add this to your gear box!!

How to Use a Spreader Bar for BDSM Leg Bondage

Using a spreader bar is quite simple.

Attach the cuffs to your submissive’s ankles. Attach the bar if required, secure in place, forcing the legs apart.

When fitting the ankle cuff, make sure it is tight but not too tight. Ideally the cuff should still be able to move around the wrist or ankle if moved with some force, but it should not be loose enough to allow one or more fingers to get between the cuff and the skin.

You can also use these bondage bars on the wrists to keep the arms apart.

Safety

As with any BDSM session, the safety of the wearer is top priority. Ensure the cuffs are not too tight, blood circulation is not cut off and the submissive is comfortable enough. Before tying rope or attaching other equipment, it’s important you know how to remove them quickly in the event of an emergency (for example, he or she is having a panic attack or is injured).

Kinky Positions to Try

Get creative with your BDSM spreader bar! There are multiple sexy positions you can use with this kinky toy.

The Standing Bar Position, The Basic Y

The submissive has their legs secured by the cuffs and bar. Then, they either remain standing upright or bend over a chair or table for support. Their legs are kept separated for easy access.

The Double Trouble Position, The Basic X

The same as The Basic Y, but with an additional bar for the wrists. Keep both the legs and arms of your submissive separated.

Flat On The Belly

Lie the submissive flat, face down on their stomach. Bend their knees, lifting their feet upwards towards the roof. Secure the bar to their ankles. To take it a step further, restrain their wrists behind their back using Wrist Cuffs. Next, tie their wrists to the spreader using rope.

Legs Up Missionary

Lie the submissive wearing the bar on their back and raise their legs in the air. The dominant partner can hold onto the central bar to support the legs in this position. A cushion under the bottom can make this pose more comfortable, and heighten pleasure.
This sex position creates the perfect little package to play with.
